Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is the short answer.
The beach makes us feel great, especially this one. We visited HHI with are young children at the time for spring break and fell in love with the beaches, island, and people. We were hooked and have been returning at least once a year. Sometimes it has been just my wife and me, but now the young adults are joining us again. We made and will continue to make memories crashing HHI beaches.
So what about Beach Crasher, Inc.? We stayed about 1/4mi from the beach during one of our family trips and rode our rental bikes to the beach on most days. As the dad, I strapped on a couple of beach chairs, filled-up the rinky-dink front basket with a bag and towels, and tried to carry a small cooler for the ride. Not easy, and probably not very safe. I thought, “There must be something I can rent to transport all this beach stuff.”
I took a look. Locally at the bike shops, there were only kid pull-behind carts as an option. I didn’t want a big kid cart attached to my bike all week and have to deal with that when riding the beach or around the island. So I did what everyone does and Googled it. Not too many options were specific to the beach that didn’t need some level of customization. I didn’t want the hassle.
So, I drew-up the Beach Crasher Bike Rack on a napkin and decided to launch a business to support its production and sale, Beach Crasher, Inc. During the research and development phase (pre-production), the family decided it would be fun to create some logo-based apparel, provide some ideas about products, and share some information about the beaches we enjoy through our website. This led us to create the Beach Crasher Virtual Community, where everyone can experience a little bit of beach wherever they are.
That’s that. I hope you will join the community and contribute your thoughts. Thank you, Bob.
